The non-profit in Illinois is not only strapped with bills it cannot pay, the station’s license holder, 48-year-old Jeremy Styninger, is battling health issues after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in November.

He told the Journal Star, “My back’s against the wall. I’ve been really struggling with what to do. The station means everything to me.” WAZU has a $7,000 tower bill and $3,000 in licensing expenses it cannot afford to pay. In addition to that, $25,000 worth of their best broadcast equipment was stolen.

The newspaper says there’s an effort to raise money to save the station at www.give.wazufm.org. As of Tuesday, only $32 had been raised.
