This Eagle Ain’t No Turkey

Amarillo’s 100.9 The Eagle doesn’t do things by half measures – especially when it comes to helping the community. On December 5 through 9, the station raised over $10,000 for the High Plains Food Bank with their 14th Annual Turkeys or $20. Pretty simple concept: The Eagle asked listeners to bring a turkey or a $20 bill during the food drive held in the parking lot of Market Street United. And consequently, 152 turkeys tumbled in. Donations were matched by Citizens Bank.

Alpha Media Amarillo Market Manager Robert Mueller said, “The Eagle, along with our stations KGNC-FM and KGNC-AM, showed the power of live and local radio. Our listeners heard a need to feed families over the holidays, and came through for us again in a big way. We’re so proud to play this part in the Texas panhandle.”

The High Plains Food Bank delivered over 7.1 million pounds of food in 2015 to the 29 counties they serve in the Texas panhandle. 2014 data showed they served an estimated 92,000, in 8,000 different families, through 165 partner agencies.

The really do things big in Texas!
