WBEB Christmas Choir Winners Announced

It was the eighth annual Christmas Choir Competition for Philadelphia’s 101.1 More FM (WBEB) and the station has announced the winners. The winner of this year’s competition in the 9-12 grade division was the North Penn High School – Chamber Singers. The winner in the K-8 grade division was Clearview Regional Middle School – 8th Grade Choir. Each school receives a $5,000 cash prize for its music department, plus an invitation to sing with the Philly Pops at A Philly Pops Christmas performance in December 2016.

The contest began October 10 with the goal of finding the best school music group or choir in the Philadelphia eight-county area. The contest featured two divisions – Kindergarten through 8th grade (contest running 11/28 – 12/2/16), and 9th through 12th grade (contest running 12/5 – 12/9/16). 101.1 More FM’s Jenn Ryan and Bill Tafrow played three semi-finalists’ songs each day on their morning show, asking listeners, parents, staff, and students to vote on the MoreFMPhilly.com website’s Christmas Choir page for the choir they liked best.

101.1 More FM will be playing holiday music through Christmas Day and plans to play the choir finalists in the holiday rotation.
