He’s been a regular on Radio Ink’s Best Country PD in America list. In fact, in 2016 he was number three, and in nominating Kapugi CBS Corporate wrote: “Jeff is the consummate pro. He is a five-tool player who excels at all levels of the Program Director’s responsibilities: On-Air, Online, and On-site. Relationships within station and cluster as well as external partners are always a priority for Jeff. He is sales friendly and solutions based.”

US99 has been in a tough battle for ratings and revenue with iHeart’s WEBG, “Big 95.5 Chicago’s New Country,” which it launched in January 2015. Kapugi has many friends in the radio business as you can see on his Facebook page.

In 2015, Kapugi was the number one Country PD in America. As we polled our top Country programmers for 2015, Jeff Kapugi was listed as the number one program director by more than half, with most others putting him in the top five.

CBS Radio has confirmed that Kapugi is no longer with the company and The Chicagoland Radio and Media Blog is reporting he was pushed out after five years at WUSN-FM in Chicago and as CBS Radio Vice President of Country Programming.
