Judge Rules For BMI Over DOJ

0

On Friday, a federal judge threw out the U.S. Department of Justices interpretation of the BMI consent decree. He ruled BMI is free to engage in the fractional licensing of musical works and that ruling is now the controlling interpretation of the BMI consent decree. In the ruling, which can be found HERE, the judge writes, “Nothing in the consent decree gives support to the division’s views. The consent decree neither bars fractional licensing nor requires full-work licensing.”
