Jess Hanson is the new Market Manager and GSM for Horizon Broadcasting Group’s Central Oregon properties. He takes over from CEO Keith Shipman who had been running the market for the past 16 years and has quite a full plate of work with his many other projects. Hanson will now oversee Horizon’s five radio stations, its digital assets (including MyCentralOregon.com), and event productions.

Hanson joins Horizon after serving as President and Chief Revenue Officer of Townsquare Media’s cluster in Abilene. He spent 15 years as Senior Vice President of Research for iHeart Media and Entertainment and Senior Research Director/Southwest Region for Clear Channel. Hanson began his broadcasting career at Buck Owens Broadcasting in Phoenix, AZ.

Shipman says he’s pleased to be able to hand over the day-to-day operations of the Central Oregon market to an experienced and successful leader. “Jess has demonstrated his passion for the radio industry over the past three decades and has built successful sales and programming teams throughout his career. He has a proven track record in broadcast, digital, and event sales – all of which are key to our clients’ marketing plans.”

Shipman will be focusing more on projects and other strategic efforts for the company. He’s also busy as President & CEO of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters and the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. He began those roles in January. He tells Radio Ink he enjoys advocating for radio and television broadcasters in both states.
