Is The Culture Changing at Cumulus?

3

CEO Mary Berner says it is, and it’s moving in a positive direction. Berner said 94% of Cumulus employees now believe the company is changing for the better, 92% are proud to work at Cumulus, and 86% are excited about the future. All of those numbers are up since January.

turnover chartTurnover continues to decrease as well, according to the CEO. Overall turnover has decreased from 34% to 25%, full-time employee turnover is down to 20% from 29%, and turnover in the sales department, which can be extremely costly, is down from 40% to 24%.

  1. Berner is a one trick pony. Avoiding the awful revenue issues, and talking about turnover and employee happiness. The fact is, the Gary Pizzatti was fired to help build a smoke plume, right before numbers were released. Mike McVay still, STILL hasn’t found a way for the 2nd largest broadcasting company to find itself in the Top 10, of any of the Top 3 markets. Say that to yourself, Mcvay can’t get ANY Cumulus station in the Top 10, of ANY of the Top 3 markets?! Continued failure. Continued Disappointment. McVay spent all his years, not spreading good, effective radio policies, but marketing how great The Dickeys were… now, he still can’t create good radio, because his stopped 25 years ago, and just markets how unfair Lew and John were to Cumulus. He hires re-treads, and people who will not challenge him, that’s it… it’s what any (almost) 70 year old would do, but it’s just in-effective, predictable and a complete disservice to Cumulus investors, and employees. Mary hasn’t really done anything: the stock, the revenue and the ratings haven’t marginally changed one way or another… NOTHING has really changed, just look at the raw numbers. Or, you can continue to be sweet-talked by company surveys and HR reports. One more time, LOOK AT THE NUMBERS! Mary was a nice stop gap for Wall St. , a woman, nice smile, somewhat of an outsider (although print is a dinosaur), but Cumulus needed real results. Real, noticeable results that scream off the page; Berner has not been able to get anything done, and a largely because when it came to change, real change, she was more of a skittish dog. She simply has allowed the same people, to enact the same failing, homogenous policies that helped sink Cumulus out the bottom of the radio ocean.

  2. Hey “No way” your comment is baseless and childish. Be more specific. Fact the research shows change. What is your fact
