Tom Joyner Returns To Orlando

6

The Tom Joyner Morning Show will be back on CMG’s STAR 94.5 starting Monday, July 11. Joyner was on STAR 94.5 until 2014 when the station decided to flip to Steve Harvey. PD Michael Saunders said, “The people demanded we bring Tom back to their favorite Central Florida radio station and we did. Tom Joyner and STAR 94.5 are synonymous and we plan to keep it that way for many years to come. Let the Party with A Purpose Proceed.”

Joyner said, “Everyone who knows me knows I can’t keep a secret, so when I heard that we were coming back on the air in one of my favorite markets, Orlando, on STAR 94.5 FM, it took everything I had to not to spill it. I gained 20 pounds holding that big news inside. Now I can finally celebrate along with the wonderful audience we have missed so much.”

The Tom Joyner Morning Show is distributed by REACH Media Inc, a part of the Radio One family.

  1. Dear Mr. Joyner;
    I am sad to inform you that I will no longer be listening to your morning show on *94.5 Orlando. Because of the policy in place that allows the airing of insulting and offensive political ads. I feel the station has compromised the legacy of the Civil Rights Struggle and the lost of life which was paid dearly. I feel the staff has lowered their standards by airing these ads because the air time was purchased. Money cannot be a for substitute integrity. Enclosed is a statement which I submitted to the program director, Mr. Michael Saunders.
    “Dear Mr. Saunders;
    This letter is in regard to the offensive and insulting political ads of Donald Trump this station is broadcasting. I spoke at length with a young woman in your department on Monday, Oct 31, 2016. She had some very ‘academic’ nice sounding answers however she did not get the gist of the complaint. Your station playing these ads because of guidelines as instructed by the Cox Media group should not be the reason that you are disrespecting the history and the people of the CIVIL RIGHTS STRUGGLE. Playing these offensive and insulting ads is negating, spitting upon the people who were maimed , killed struggling and fighting for the basic human rights as guaranteed by the United States Constitution. Playing these insidious ads are a direct affront to your grandparents and great-grandparents legacy. Using the excuse the air time was purchased is not a reason to compromise this station integrity. Money is not reason to lower the standards of your station. Please no more ‘academic’ excuses……the segregation laws were academic, the vagrancy laws were academic, the peonage laws were academic, three strikes laws were academic, the war on drugs was academic. Stephin Flecit made thousands of dollars acting docile and stupid while talented actors never received a chance. You must immediately cease to alienating your listening audience. You must find the COURAGE to take a stand.
    I am still furious with *94.5 of Orlando”

  2. I’m so excited that the TJMS is coming back to 94.5. When the Steve Harvey radio show first took over, I thought that in time I would be a huge fan of the show. Although I love Steve Harvey and think he is very funny and entertaining, it wasn’t enough to prevent me from constantly switching over to the Tom Joyner morning show app. Tom Joyner and his crew are just too hilarious and they truly party with a purpose, especially for my age group 50 plus. Welcome back TJMS

    • I agree. I’m so happy that TJMS is back. I am a fan of Steve Harvey, but Tom and the crew are family! I’m also in my fifties and I feel like his show is relate-able to more mature audiences.

  3. I am so HAPPY that TJMS is back!!! I like Steve Harvey on TV but not the radio. Every morning when I drive home from work off the grave yard shift I used to listen to TJMS who kept me from falling asleep @ the wheel by laughing!! I had to use the app on my phone to keep up with them. I am HAPPY!! You made my year!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
