Dana And Jayson Out At WBLI

Cox Media Group’s Long Island morning team Dana and Jayson were let go from the station after a two-and-a-half year run. Jayson joined Dana in the morning after Jeffrey Jameson left the show in January 2014. The company says the station decided to go in a different direction and an announcement on a new morning show will be made next week. WBLI has been battling to keep up with WALK in the ratings in that market.

  33. This is terrible. I used to listen to BLI every morning for years! Where is Dana? This new girl is so bad I have to switch to any random station just to get rid of her in my car! How dumb is she??? I just briefly gave BLI another try this morning and she was talking about not knowing how to do laundry and that she puts soap in the dryer?? Bring back Dana immediately.

  35. Bad move! Nobody wants to listen to boring people that have nothing to talk about cause they spend every second of every day with each other. Just seems so fake and no chemistry between the two. You thought u we’re making a good move but you should of known you weren’t once Dana and jayson get there new show on a new channel your going to lose everyone permanently then. You thought your ratings were bad then only just wait!! Could only get worse for you all as more and more tune in and realize they are gone! Just sad

  36. I want Dana and jayson back. I was a huge fan and I listen to this show every single morning on my way to work at 5:50 am, they made my day even that early. This desicion is horrible. I don’t like the new show and I have stopped listening to bli. I check every now and then hoping there back but there not huge mistake

  37. I just realized today on my way to work that I hadn’t heard them. I was recently on vacation. I’m in agreement with all above, BAD MOVE!!!!!! Bring them back. It was an awesome show and you cannot beat it!

  39. Not the same at all… I though I couldn’t tune in for some reason. Like why would they be dropped. They touched on subjects we can all relate to and always had a smile on my face or giggling on my way to work. Now its so BLAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH Bring em Back

  43. Still switch to radio station thinking “corporate” realized they had made a big mistake…rattled by the realization that it’s not Jayson and Dana……..switched to WBAB….roger and j.p….walk fm is too goody goody for me.

  46. Worst decision this station has EVER made. I literally thought like many others that they were on vacation or I had the wrong station on. They made my commute to work much more bearable. This new show is a SNOOZE fest. Cooper is not funny at all and it makes me want to poke my eyes out. I would rather go listen to a cd than watch that show. Looks like I won’t be listening to WBLI anymore.

  47. OMG, Started to listen to the new morning show now that I have to drive my kids to school. Me and my daughters think it’s awful. Cooper laughs at her own words and she is awful on the song intro’s. To stop mid sentence because the song is beginning to play sounds so unprofessional. i have to say Dana was a great morning host with whom ever she was paired with. I don’t know what the radio station was thinking, letting go the morning show, but the direction you are going in doesn’t work for me. We will go back to z100.

  48. I wondered where they went! Now I know why my radio is on 99.1 in the morning now. I loved the chemistry these two had. It’s not like your playlist is awesome. They were the reason I tuned in in the morning. Change isn’t always for the best!

  50. I’m so disappointed to find out that Dana and Jason are gone. When I came back from my vacation and turned wbli on I thought these two were on vacation. Occasionally I would turn the radio on to see if they are back. Now knowing that they are gone – no more wbli for me. Soooo disappointed.

  53. bring them “BACK”, I’ve been listening since the 70’s, I’m in my 60’s and I think Dana & Jayson, are the “GREATEST”, THING IN THE MORNING, who care what WALK, has going on, I think if it not “BROKE DONT FIX IT”, I have been listen to Cooper in the morning, but its not “DANA & JAYSON” why, why, why, who care about WALK, bring the back, don’t care for Cooper, not saying she not good, but NOT “DANA & JAYSON”, they make me want to listen to them, something about them but not sure, they are better then JOHN, RANDY & JASON, liked them but “these two are so GREAT, GOING TO LEAVE LISTING TO THE SHOW AFTER 40+ years, SORRY, but don’t care for them, BRING “DANA & JAYSON” BACK NOW!!!!!!

  59. It saddened me when I turned the radio not to hear Dayna and Jason. Removing them from the station was not a positive position to take. Removing the people that put you on the map is not the way to go. Different strategy should have been explored. I know businesses always think that removing the people that assisted in their growth thru the years is the answer. Different tactics, playlist more variable. Repeated playlist. Explore!!!! There are so many vocal artists… Why not explore. Dayna / Jason made me laugh. Life needs humor. Not enough of it. Specially with these political candidates this year. All they care about is themselves and who can outdo the other. It’s a joke. What society has become.

  63. Radio’s executive management corps does not think. They react – to whatever spectres are harassing and torturing their little brains at any given time.
    Maybe a total lack of successful programming experience AND being unable to identify the dynamic and worthwhile elements will do that.
    Oh, well. Time to start whipping the sales staff again – longer, harder and more often.

  64. I am very upset about this new morning talk show!! I’ve been listening to Wbli every morning with Dana and Jeffery then he left and thought nothing can replace him until Jayson came along and I loved their chemistry, it gave me something to look forward to while sitting in my morning traffic, I’ve been trying to listen to the new show and I just can’t!!! It’s like listening to walk 97.5 which would put you to sleep. Now I just listen to my Pandora. I think the decision that was made will put you under…. It’s not just the music it was the people that made the station!!! And where’s John too? I’m just very disappointed!!!

  73. I loved Dana and Jayson they made a boring ride to work fun. I tried listening to the new show, but I am sorry it does not compare to Dana and Jayson. I now listen to 97.5 Walk on my ride into work. Sorry BLI you made a mistake letting them go.

  81. This is such a bad decision. Dana and Jayson were great and I miss cracking up on my way into work. They made my commute into work much better and started my day with laughter. I won’t be listening to that station any longer and hope I can find out where I can listen to them again. The new people on are so damn boring. Dumb move. Really stupid.

  85. wow , how about check with your listeners before ousting our morning show ? Your format of 5-8 minutes of talk followed by 18 minutes of bad songs was your issue. So your new group will solidly fail if you keep that format , allow your morning show to be a more talk less song . I really enjoyed Dayna and whatever J she co-hosted with , what a loss !

    • Big mistake..actually a disaster. Dana and Jayson were “it”. I almost fell asleep on the LIE today listening to your new “team”, which has absolutely ZERO chances of connecting with ANY audience. Lost me and thousands of others as listeners. Management should be replaced…what losers!!

They don’t have the same rapport as Dana and Jayson did and they are very flat. I finally decided to search the wbli website and then the internet to find out what happened to Dana and Jayson. I was quite surprised and disappointed. I’m up and out early in the morning and always go to wbli because they make me laugh. I’m sorry to say the new morning team doesn’t do it for me. I wish Dana and Jayson luck in their new endeavors. They are very talented and brought so much to the morning time slot. I will miss them.

  88. Most of these comments are negative, which is understandable. Why wouldn’t they be the “dynamic duo”? They have had so many hours together along with adventures. No one likes to see their favorite show leave the air, but there is nothing like going out on top. Making people remember you for all the great things you were. Not allowing them to slowly digress and then letting them go out on a low note would suck. The new morning show has HUGE shoes to fill, but they will get there. Anyway good luck to all!

  91. The new morning show is awful. I’ve tried to give it a shot but I can’t. Dana and jayson were beyond a dynamic duo and could finish one another’s sentence. They were amazing together. I would literally laugh out loud on my morning commute. Now I won’t even turn on the station.

  92. Very disappointing. I had thought they were on vacation last week when i tuned in and thought uugghhh, can’t wait until they are back. Tuned in this morning and realized this is odd that they are not back, went to the WBLI website to find they have been completely erased along with John online. I don’t think this was a great decision. I feel bad, as a Long Islander I have listened to WBAB and WBLI since being a child. Not gonna tune in anymore. It just sucks!!

  93. Dana and Jayson were the best! I would often share with my co-workers their questions of the day. They were kind and funny. I will miss them and definitely turning to a different station.

I have religiously listened to Dayna, Jeffery and Jayson going to work for the last 15 years and would sit in my car in the parking lot at work to finish listening to the end of rate my date or whatever. Not sure what direction you are looking to take your station in, but with over 30 years in marketing this was a huge mistake. You had something unique that appealed to people in their 20’s and well into their 50’s and replaced it with something so ordinary and I recognizable. They provided the station with innovative ideas and their delivery was great. Go be the follower not the leader. clearly none of your listeners on are board with your decision and have moved on as I have because it’s to painful to listen to their replacements. Do you really think they were the reason for you drop in ratings? When you see the next report you’ll no that wasn’t true.

  99. I hate the new morning show, I thought they were on vacation or maybe I hit the wrong preset station. The new people are boring, I loved the way dana and jayson played off each other, they’re hysterical. If you thought your ratings were dropping, you may rethink those numbers after letting dana and jayson go, they’re gonna plummet. I won’t be tuning in anymore, if I wanted boring and tired, I would’ve stayed in bed and slept. Dana and jayson were the best, I hope abother station picks them up. Good luck to the both of them.

  102. I used to listen to the show every morning. Jason and Dana were entertaining and hysterical. Last few weeks I thought they were on vacation so I kept listening. The new hosts really suck. Who put them on the radio?! Wbli management sucks. Their new hosts suck I always would switch back and forth with Z100s morning show. Now I will stay tuned to z100. It’s a shame. Good luck to Jason and Dana, they will be successful where ever they go. Wbli……. get it together.

  103. At first I thought the station was just to gay but the more I listened to them the more I began to laugh as I was getting ready for work. I can’t believe they were let go. I wish I knew where they were working so I could turn them on. They were a great team and cooper Lawrence would be a nice fill in for Dana and Jayson for vacation only. Miss Dana and Jayson

Especially when Dana would say “We have to take a break can we put you on a private line”. GLAD THEY ARE GONE. That Cooper chick does not sound as UP TIGHT as Dana sounded every morning.   126. The Wbli morning show wasn’t that good, but now it SUCKS even more. Cooper has the most annoying voice and her side kick is an idiot!. I only listened in the morning while showering because it was the only station that came in, but now I wont be listening at ALL. You didn’t have the ratings then and you won’t have them now either. WBLI will be HISTORY soon!

    • Soo, its back to school and back to early mornings. I was looking forward to turning on BLI and having Dana and Jayson start my day with their crazy funny antics….I cannot tell you how DISAPPOINTED I AM. I actually had to check my radio thinking I accidentally put the wrong station on. When I realized I was infact listening to BLI, I Googled where Dana & Jayson were….gone?? Really?? Such a huge mistake. I cannot tell you how many times I spit my tea out laughing during their morning show !! Sooo disappointed. You’re worried about “ratings”, your problem wasn’t Dana & Jayson, your problem was the constant repetitiveness of the same 10 songs over and over all day long !! Dana & Jayson were the only reason I tuned in every morning. Looks like I’ll be finding a new station to listen to. Hope I can find Dana & Jayson on another station !!
