Toledo Morning Man Receives Special Award

The Toledo Blade has the details about WKKO’s Harvey Steele who, dying from liver failure 19 years ago, received a second chance at life with a liver transplant. Today Steele will be awarded the National Donor Memorial Award for Excellence in Richmond, Va., for his efforts in promoting the cause of organ donation. The United Network for Organ Sharing is based in Richmond and manages the nation’s organ transplant system under contract with the federal government. Steele said, “I know that I am lucky to have a bully pulpit working on K-100, and I just started to run with it.”
