According to the NPR website, photojournalist David Gilkey (pictured) was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday along with NPR’s Afghan interpreter Zabihullah Tamanna.
They were on assignment for the network traveling with an Afghan army unit. They were in a Humvee driven by an Afghan National Army soldier when all three were killed after the vehicle was hit by rocket propelled grenades in an apparent ambush.
