Digital Ad Spend Will Pass TV Next Year

According to eMarketer digital advertising spending will grow 12.4% in 2017 to $77.37 billion, while traditional TV advertising climbs 2% to $72.01 billion. This year, digital is estimated to hit $68.82 billion, with TV hitting $70.60 billion. TV will take 36.8% of the total U.S. advertising pie with digital at 35.8%, print at 13.9% and radio at 7.4%. Now, let’s take a closer look at the digital numbers.

Digital video is also showing some seriously competitive, with $9.84 in advertising revenue. That’s expected to grow 12% next year to $11.72. Mobile is a huge driver of the digital growth. eMarketer estimates mobile will grow 21% to $52.76 in 2017. Mobile is expected to hit $43.60 billion this year.

eMarketer estimates the total U.S. advertising spend will rise 4.8% to $201.32 billion in 2017; growing 5% in 2016 to $192.02.
