Radio’s Big Category Wins

Professional Services and Health Care were radio’s biggest category gainers in 2015, up 9% and 5% respectively. So which advertisers turned to radio more in 2015? Let’s take a closer look.

In the Professional Services category, LifeLock jumped up to become the #2 advertiser, increasing its spending six-fold. 1-800-411-PAIN and Zerorez Carpet Cleaning Service also posted double-digit increases, up 15% and 12%, from 2014. And in the Health Care category, regional clinics and hospitals started to spend more money with radio according to the RAB. Regional category advertiser Dignity Health Care System increased spending 128% versus year ago comps. NuMale Medical Center was up 65% and Lasik Plus was up 2%.

Looking at the detail the RAB provided for the financial services category, total spending was up 4% over 2014. CashCall mortgage lenders increased spending by 120% and become the top spender in the category. JPMorgan Chase dropped to #4 off by 60%. LoanMe was up 312% (now #5 vs. #30 last year).
