Radio Ink’s Hispanic Radio Conference is being held March 22-23 in Fort Lauderdale — and we have a truly remarkable lineup of keynotes, covering everything from politics to the state of the industry to the relationship of modern performers with radio. Here’s a look at our incredible lineup of speakers :

Possibly the FCC’s greatest ally to the broadcast industry, FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai has been a leading advocate for the revitalization of the AM band, and called it a “big victory” when in October the long-awaited FCC AM revitalization order was released — including something Pai had particularly pushed for: an FM translator modification window for AMs this year and a translator auction window in 2017. He’s worked to make the commission more open to innovation, to new products and services, and to greater opportunity for our industry to compete. You’ll want to hear what he has to stay.

mason-salas_copyAlso at the Conference, radio legend Dan Mason will sit down with Spanish Broadcasting System EVP/Programming Jesus Salas in a live one-on-one conversation covering every hot topic in Hispanic radio. Dan Mason, the just-retired president and CEO of CBS Radio, knows radio inside out and from every angle. As well as spending years as an industry leader, he’s a top programming expert and one of the most recognized and respected names ever in radio. Salas, head of programming for SBS, is one of the sharpest minds in the business. It’s an up-close and intimate conversation, no topic out of bounds, and a rare chance to listen to and learn from Mason.

With a projected $11.4 billion in advertising dollars in play for the 2016 elections, Dante parraHispanic broadcasters are poised to grab record political revenue. Latino voters are a crucial constituency, and Hispanic radio has a strategic advantage in reaching this vital voting bloc. At the Hispanic Radio Conference political strategist and consultant José Dante Parra shares how Spanish-language radio will play into the advertising mix of candidates and how to leverage your Hispanic audience into increased political revenue. Parra is a Democratic strategist and a former senior advisor to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In 2012 he served as a Latino communications advisor for President Obama’s reelection and led the Democratic National Convention’s Hispanic media
team.

Jencarlos_Canela_2013_1SheetbAnd we’ll hear from Jencarlos Canela, a successful actor and musician who’ll be fresh from his performance in Fox’s original live musical The Passion. Canela will be talking about radio’s impact on today’s multi-media performers; the star of the NBC comedy Telenovela has had two albums enter the Latin charts at number one, with hits including “I Love It,” “Amor Quedate,” and “Dime.” His career is a model for modern artists who move seamlessly from one medium to another, and this is a valuable chance to learn what radio looks like from the artist’s perspective.
