The City of Royal Oak, Michigan and the Royal Oak School Board have approved the renaming of a section of Willis Ave in Royal Oak to Glenn Frey Drive to honor Frey, who grew up in that city. Greater Media’s WCSX-FM met with the City of Royal Oak and the Royal Oak School Board, and found a stretch of Willis Ave that can be renamed Glenn Frey Drive. On Thursday, the vote was passed.
On Thursday February 18th, 2016 at 5:30pm 94.7 WCSX-FM, city officials and school board officials from Royal Oak will unveil Glenn Frey Drive in front of Dondero High School, Frey’s alma mater. WCSX’s Doug Podell will broadcast his show live from 3p-7p Thursday February 18th at Roak Brewing on Lincoln Ave in Royal Oak and invite listeners to join him for the street renaming celebration with Eagles and Glenn Frey music playing and patrons will have a chance to win an original Glenn Frey Drive road sign.
