Country Dan Dixon Dead At 67

Dixon was known as “The Truckers Friend” on XM Channel 10 “America” from the sat-caster’s first days on the air. In 2007, when Sirius and XM merged, Dan was one of many cut and the channel eliminated. Prior to his years on satellite radio, Dixon worked at WSDS Ypsilanti, MI, WNRS Ann Arbor, MI, WKCQ Saginaw, CKLW-FM Windsor, Ont., WDEE and WCXI Detroit, plus WTOD-AM and WKKO (K-100) Toledo.

According to friend Art Vuolo, Dixon died Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2016 two weeks after his birthday. “His brother Mike, from Chelsea, MI, was at his side. In recent years he moved through multiple medical and rehabilitation centers in Nashville, Lebanon, and Mount Juliet, Tennessee, where he was at the time of his passing. Diabetes ravaged his body for the last ten years of his life, and a left leg amputation restricted his mobility. Many country broadcasters felt he should have been inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame.”

Vuolo produced a video tribute to Dixon which can be seen here.
