Canada’s Rogers Media Cutting 200 Jobs

The layoffs will come from Rogers Media’s television, radio, and publishing divisions. The company owns 50 radio stations across the country. It’s a reduction in the workforce of 4%. Rogers Media spokeswoman Andrea Goldstein issued a statement to The Globe and Mail that said, “The media industry continues to experience significant pressures from a softening advertising market, fierce competition from global players, and shifting audience consumption habits.” She said the company identified cost savings in production, operations, and procurement and “made the difficult decision to reduce headcount.”
