Ricci Ware Dead At 79
The San Antonio talk show legend died Friday morning, reports NEWS4SA.com. Ware began his radio career in the mid-1950s in Baytown, Texas before moving to Austin, Texas, where he worked for LBJ at KTBC radio and television.
Martin Signs Extension With CBS Radio
It's a multi-year contract renewal for Michael Martin. Martin is Senior VP of Programming and Music Initiatives for CBS Radio and PD at Top 40 station KMVQ-FM and Hot AC KLLC-FM in San Francisco. Martin is also CBS Radio's Top 40 format captain.
Bob Bruno Is Back
The former WOR New York General Manager is launching his own radio show on WVOX-AM, The Voice of Westchester. The weekly two-hour show that debuts this weekend is called The Best of Everything.
Cathy Hughes To Be Honored Sunday
Radio One founder and chairperson Cathy Hughes will be honored by Howard University, Sunday, when the Washington, D.C. college renames its school of communications the Cathy Hughes School of Communications. The unveiling ceremony will be live-streamed via Facebook and on all of Radio One local and national digital media platforms. Radio Ink will also honor Hughes in November at Forecast with the Radio Ink Lifetime Leadership Award.

WIP Philadelphia Announces New Midday Show
CBS Radio's SportsRadio 94WIP in Philadelphia has a new midday show. The team of Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie will take over that timeslot as of Monday, October 24. The new show replaces Michael Barkann, who will remain as the primary anchor for ComcastSports Net and Ike Reese, who may be part of a new afternoon show that will be announced soon.
Best Of Memphis Doubles Down On Drake
Drake Hall and Drake Hall in the Morning have made it six years running at the Memphis Flyers Best of Memphis. Scooping both Bes Radio Personality and Best Radio show, the alternative weekly noted: “He's crotchety, he's lovable, he has great guests, great music and Memphis loves this guy.”
After 5 Months, Dante Hall Quits
The Houston Chronicle has the details about the former NFL player who was introduced as midday co-host at sports talker KILT-610 in Houston back in May. PD Ryan McCredden told the paper Hall will not be replaced. "I'm disappointed that things didn't work out, but Dante told me this just wasn't for him. He's been trying to make it work, and he just had to move on."
Frankie C Extends With ZHT Salt Lake
iHeartMedia's 97.1 ZHT in Salt Lake City has renewed and extended its agreement with morning show co-host Frankie C for three more years. Frankie C is part of the Frankie and Jess morning show, and said, “I'm blessed to have found my home at 97.1 ZHT in Salt Lake City 19 years ago. Here's to 19 more! Now, let's make mornings great again!”
