Howard “Fritz” Frederick Passes At Age 90
Former VP/GM for Mid America Broadcasting Howard "Fritz" Frederick died peacefully in Scottsdale surrounded by family, this past Monday. He was 90. His grandson, one half of the Fred and Angi Show in Chicago, told Radio Ink, "My grandfather instilled in me a love of radio and broadcasting, and without his support, guidance, and mentorship I'd never be where I am today."

The Big 920, “Milwaukee's Sports Station,” has enlisted Milwaukee sports journalist Drew Olson as the new midday host for The Drew Olson Show, powered by OnMilwaukee.com. The show will air from 1 – 3 p.m. weekdays and debuted yesterday.
NHL Star Sopel Hits The Beat
Former hockey player Brent Sopel has signed on as hockey analyst and show host with WGN’s The Beat, the station’s weekend sports program. Sopel spent 12 seasons in the NHL and won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010.
Blue Joins The WKLB Boston Morning Show
Beasley's Country station in Boston, WKLB-FM, is adding Jackson Blue to its morning show. He joins Hannah Byrom. Blue was promoted from hosting Afternoon Drive on WBQT-FM in Boston to this new co-host position on WKLB.
After 20 Years McMaster Out At WGNA Albany
Sean McMaster posted his departure from the Townsquare station on Facebook, Monday. He said it was with mixed emotions that he wrote this post: "Today was my last day at WGNA. After more than 20 years of sharing my life with the greatest listeners of all time, this even to me, seems to be unbelievable'."
Two Programming Promotions For iHeart Out West
Rob Scorpio (pictured) has been named Senior VP of Programming for the San Diego/Riverside region, and Kid Jay is the new PD for KGGI-FM in Riverside. Currently, Scorpio oversees iHeartRadio’s six stations in Riverside/San Bernadino, while also acting as PD for KSSX-FM in San Diego and KGGI-FM in Riverside.
Jimenez Takes Over Mornings In New York
Univision makes the announcement that it is shifting its morning show on La X 96.3 FM from mostly music to The Luis Jimenez Show. Jimenez and his crew broadcast a mix of sketches, stunts, and song parodies, and host guest stars from entertainment, sports, and politics.
Whistler Goes From Weekends To Nights At The End
Alternative Seattle station 107.7 The End is handing over nights to weekend jock Cody Whistler. Whistler joined the station’s promotions team over a decade ago and added a swing role on-air three years ago. He’ll be on air every Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. – midnight.
