Alpha Media in Lubbock has named Colleen Murphy Director of Sales. Murphy, an Oklahoma native, was previously an AE. Alpha Market Manager Jay Richardson praised her "understanding of how to make radio and digital work successfully, and her on-the-street leadership qualities."

iHeartMedia’s ALT 105.7, “Atlanta’s Rock Alternative,” announced Thursday the debut of The Woody Show, effective January 3, 2018. The top-rated morning show will broadcast Monday through Friday, 6-10 a.m. ET. 

Fran Schneidau began in radio at WICC in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She moved to WCBS in New York in 1978 where she worked for 39 years. Schneidau retired earlier this year and Gov. General Manager Cary Pahigian confirms to Radio Ink that the Conservative talker is no longer with the Baltimore news station. No reason was given and a replacement will be announced shortly. Hunter hosted afternoons for the past 4 1/2 years. He also writes a column for Townhall.com

The death of Adler was reported by WCBS 880-AM in New York, where Adler started his career in 1959 and served as News Director from 1973 until 1981.

Syndicated radio personality, actor, stand-up comedian, and hip-hop identity Ed Lover has announced that his weekday morning show, The Ed Lover Show, is leaving flagship Radio One Classic Hip Hop WUMJ-HD2-W275BK (BOOM 102.9)/Atlanta and its other Radio One BOOM affiliates, after a two-year run. He will continue with his weekend show.

Shortly after the Lover departure announcement, Radio One in Atlanta launched the all new Classix 102.9 “Atlanta’s Classic R n B.” Next week, The DL Hughley Show debuts weekdays 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed two weeks later with the Tom Joyner Morning Show officially returning to Atlanta on January 16th.

Cumulus Media announces that it has appointed Jack Shell as afternoon drive on-air personality for Country radio station 95.5 WFMS-FM in Indianapolis. Shell hits the WFMS-FM airwaves on Tuesday, December 26, from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. 

Dick Enberg got his broadcasting career started as a radio station custodian as a junior at Central Michigan, making $1 hour. The owner of the station also gave him weekend sports and DJ gigs. That catapulted Enberg to a 60-year long career which included hundreds of sporting events from the Super Bowl to the Olympics. He was found dead Thursday at his Southern California home. His family believes it was a heart attack. Enberg was 82.

Jon Lewis, a reporter for CMG's News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB in Atlanta for the past 20 years, passed away Thursday from complications following a brain hemorrhage he had over the summer.
