The programming chair Jules Riley left behind at Cox Media Group Jacksonville is being filled from within. Jud Heussler, who has programmed 95.1 WAPE and Easy 102.9 (WEZI), is moving up to Director of Operations for the company’s eight-station Jacksonville cluster.
In the new role, Heussler will lead programming strategy and daily operations across CMG Jacksonville Radio’s eight-station portfolio, working with market leaders and on-air teams to grow audiences, strengthen content, and support consistent execution across the market’s brands and platforms.
He succeeds Jules Riley, who was named Director of Operations and Programming for CMG Atlanta’s B98.5 (WSB), 97.1 The River (WSRV), and 104.1 Kiss FM (WALR) in June after nearly six years leading the Jacksonville cluster.
Heussler joined CMG in March 2021 as Director of Branding and Programming for WAPE and later added Easy 102.9. He previously programmed Curtis Media Group’s CHR Pulse FM (WPLW/WWPL) in Raleigh from 2017 to 2021 and, before that, served as Music Director, Assistant Program Director, and on-air personality at Kiss 98.5 (WKSE) in Buffalo. In 2017, Radio Ink profiled Heussler as one of radio’s young standouts while he was programming Pulse FM.
Cox Media Group Jacksonville Radio VP and Market Manager Brian McGhee said, “Jud brings the right mix of programming judgment, operational discipline, and people-first leadership to this role. He knows how to strengthen local brands, support great talent, and build the kind of team that will help our stations connect with audiences, positively impact our communities, and deliver for advertisers.”
Heussler commented, “We have top-tier Radio stations, talented people, and a real connection to this community. I’m excited to work alongside our teams to keep evolving what we do and how we connect with our audiences while ensuring CMG Jacksonville continues to grow and win.”
