As Audacy prepares to let go of St. Louis, the broadcaster is swapping the Gateway to the West for Atlanta as part of JR Ammons’ domain as Regional Brand Manager, adding the market to a portfolio that already spans stations Kansas City and Houston.
As Radio Ink reported in June, Audacy is selling its entire St. Louis cluster, including KMOX, Y98 (KYKY) and 102.5 KEZK, to Hoffmann Media.
The change means the end of Emily Boldon’s tenure as Brand Manager for Star 94 (WSTR). Ammons served as Assistant Program Director and Music Director at Star 94 from 1995 to 2006, then returned as Program Director from 2008 to 2011 under Jefferson-Pilot and Lincoln Financial Media ownership before departing to run a cluster in Indianapolis.
Morning hosts Kevin Avery and Taylor Scott have also exited the station after less than a year on air. They joined Star 94 in September 2025 following a 25-year run across the street at Salem Media’s 104.7 The Fish (WFSH), which was sold to EMF in January 2025.
In the place of Avery and Scott, Star 94 is expected to bring in another former-Atlanta-turned-St. Louis transplant: Bret Mega. The syndicated Bret Mega Show calls Y98 (KYKY) in St. Louis its flagship for now, with Audacy affiliates in Kansas City and Philadelphia. Mega previously co-hosted mornings on Atlanta’s Power 96.1 (WWPW).
