During its third annual Q-Up the Classroom, Saga Communications’ Q108 (WCVQ) in Clarksville, TN, raised $48,480 for the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, restocking back-to-school supplies at CMC’s Teacher Warehouse.

The yearly radiothon brought local leaders and students together, along with the return of national talent Erik Zachary and Jordan Foster, hosts of the syndicated XYZ with Erik Zachary. CMC teachers answered phones and collected donations as high school bands, cheerleaders, elected officials, and coaches stopped by 5 Star Media Group’s studio to support the cause.

The final guest to stop by the studio was influencer Nina Pool, who shared her personal experiences in school growing up while navigating self-described “not so steady households.” As the event drew to a close, the total funds raised settled at $22,240, until Pool announced she would match it, pushing the final total to $48,480 and surpassing last year’s radiothon total of $36,000.

Pool said, “Yesterday was honestly the highlight of my career. $48K goes towards kids and teachers in need of school supplies and personal care items. These teachers see some of the worst moments in a kid’s life and they want to be able to support every one of them, but the average yearly salary doesn’t support that want. Without my online community, none of this would have been possible.”

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation’s Teacher Warehouse is a free supply store for CMC teachers. In the past 15 years, the store has saved local teachers an estimated $800,000 in out-of-pocket expenses.
