Connoisseur Media Fredericksburg’s Classic Rock station has a new identity rooted in Civil War history after a weekend of stunting artillery-themed songs. 96.9 The Rock became 96.9 The Cannon (WWUZ) on Monday morning, with an updated music library.
The station has carried a Classic Rock format since its October 1998 launch, apart from a classic hits stretch from 2000 to 2002.
Connoisseur Media Fredericksburg Operations Manager Ian Rambo said, “We’re taking the rock our listeners already love, and we’re giving them more of it! From the classics that built the format to the biggest rock hits of the past 25 years. If it rocks, it belongs on The Cannon. The name is a nod to Fredericksburg’s history, and the sound is built for the people who live here. The frequency hasn’t changed, but everything else just got a little louder.”
