Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Andy Grammer has been named ambassador for Friday’s 16th World College Radio Day, recording an exclusive interview that will air on participating student stations across more than 50 countries during the global celebration.
More than 700 college radio stations are expected to take part in World College Radio Day on Friday, October 2. This year’s theme is “HOPE – Always in the Air,” and participation is free for college stations worldwide. Jake Bugg, GirlBand!, and Allison Russell have also recorded exclusive content for the day, including an acoustic performance by Bugg, and the UK’s Northern Sky have been named College Radio Spirit Ambassadors.
Last year, under the theme “Tune In To The People,” the marathon began at UCC 98.3FM at University College Cork in Ireland and traveled through stations in countries including Costa Rica, India, Australia, Ghana, Malaysia, Mexico, and the US. Gabriel Menchero of Frecuencia CEM at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico returns as WCRD President after being named to lead both the 2025 and 2026 events.
Menchero stated, “It’s an event where stations around the world are sharing one frequency of humanity: different languages, different cultures, different stories, but one message. We are here. We are listening. We are connected. And hope is always in the air!”
