iHeartMedia syndicated Country radio personality Bobby Bones returned to his Arkansas hometown school district for National Literacy Month, surprising the Mountain Pine School District with a $50,000 donation in conjunction with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
The donation will provide over 700 new books for students’ personal libraries and may extend to technical programs, computers, and resources to directly advance the district’s literacy gains. Additional donations included Dollar General gift cards to equip teachers with essential school supplies and classroom materials.
Bones said, “Growing up in Mountain Pine, books and education gave me the opportunity to believe bigger things were possible. Every student deserves that same chance. Being able to come back home, put books into students’ hands, and help invest in these schools means a lot. I’m grateful to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and iHeartRadio for joining me in supporting the next generation of kids in Mountain Pine.”
