The Sun Radio Recharge Program is back to help Operation Blue Santa with Christmas in July. As part of the program gas cards will be provided for Texas musicians and crew members for bands who are back out on the road.
“Touring is a vital part of a musician being able to make a living and just as bands are able to get back out on the road, gas prices rise to the point of preventing some artists from traveling,” said Gabe Reynolds, PD. “Part of our mission is ‘to preserve the heritage of Texas music’ so that’s why it’s important for the Sun Radio Foundation to take this step and once again help out area artists.”
The annual Christmas in July event will result in half of all new donations going to Operation Blue Santa for the Recharge Program. The Sun Radio Recharge Program started during the pandemic in 2020 helping to pay the electric bills of over 500 local musicians. It continued in 2021, again covering the electric bills during both the winter storm and the heat of the summer.
Sun Radio is a solar-powered, non-commercial radio station committed to preserving the heritage of Texas music. In partnership with the Sun Radio Foundation, they work to create a vehicle for community and environmental change.
