Over 840,000 meals will be served thanks to donations made from listeners to Saga’s WAFX-FM and WNOR-FM in Hampton Roads during their 25th annual Mayflower Marathon Food Drive. The drive benefits the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, and the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.
FM99 and 106.9 The Fox Operations Manager, Mike Beck: Thanks to the support of our generous listeners and client partners, the shelves at the Foodbank are overflowing with much needed donations. More than 840,000 meals will be created from what we collected at the 25th Annual FM99 and The Fox Mayflower Marathon. We are proud to support the Foodbanks in their mission and we thank everyone for helping feed Hampton Roads!
“The Mayflower Marathon is an annual reminder of the spirit of our great region and the strength that lies in our collective work as a community committed to ending hunger and food insecurity for our most vulnerable neighbors in Southeastern Virginia and on the Eastern Shore,” said Emma Inman, Chief Impact Officer, Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from donors across our service area in addition to our longstanding partnership with FM99 and 106.9 The Fox who share our vision of a hunger-free community.”
“We are always so thankful and grateful for the outpouring of generosity from our community, whose donations will bring joy and nourishment into the lives of those experiencing food insecurity across the greater Peninsula,“ said Karen Joyner, CEO of Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. “We are also thankful for 106.9 the Fox and FM99 for continuing on the tradition of this annual food raising event for 25 years. They should be very proud of knowing the impact that this event has on our community today, tomorrow and into the future. Being able to put a healthy meal on the table is a basic need that will now happen for thousands of families because of these donations.”
