97.1 The Ticket host Jamie Samuelsen says he was diagnosed with colon cancer nearly two years ago. The radio vet, who has been covering sports for nearly 30 years in Motown; shared the news on the Jamie & Stoney Show Monday morning.
“Each morning since my diagnosis, I got up, turned on the radio mic and got to talk sports,” Samuelsen shared with listeners. “I needed the escape from cancer, just like so many of our listeners who face hardships, grief and illness, too, they turned to us in the morning for some levity in this crazy world. So I wanted to continue to have fun and not let cancer get in the way of doing what I loved.”
He assured listeners that his revelation wasn’t a goodbye. He urged listeners to talk with their doctor and get a colonoscopy.
