The WJPZ Alumni Association of the Syracuse University student-operated CHR radio station, will hold its 35th Annual Birthday Banquet on Saturday, March 7, at the Syracuse University Sheraton, on campus. Nearly 150 alumni and students will attend the evening celebration, which marks the 35th year of WJPZ on the FM band.

The speaking program will feature a keystone conversation with ESPN Radio host Jason Fitz and Pete Gianesini (’94) Senior Director, Digital Audio at ESPN, moderated by Jeff Kurkjian, (’15) morning host KCYE-FM in Las Vegas.

Stephen Donovan (’95), morning host at WWLI-FM in Providence, will emcee the event.

Also during the banquet weekend, the WJPZ Alumni Association will induct its 12th class into the WJPZ Hall of Fame. The 2020 inductees are Mary Mancini (’85) – Chair, Tennessee Democratic Party and Carl Weinstein (’88) – COO, Locked On Podcast Network.

“Even as the radio business changes, WJPZ continues to be known throughout the industry as ‘The Greatest Media Classroom,'” said Kevin Rich (‘07), President of the WJPZ Alumni Association and Market President, Townsquare Media Albany. “Once again, this weekend brings together students, alumni, and leaders in the industry to prove why the station is one-of-a-kind in the nation.”
