FCC Rules Against Romanik Stations

1

Bob Romanik calls himself The Grim Reaper of Radio. Romanik may soon be looking for a new place to broadcast what some have called misogynistic and homophobic content. The FCC has rejected an application to renew the license for KQQZ-AM in St. Louis, the station Romanik hosted his show.

FCC Administrative Law Judge Jane Halprin permanently dismissed the application to renew KQQZ’s license. Entertainment Media Trust actually owns the station, and several others. They filed for renewal in 2012 and back then St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern asked the FCC to deny the license renewals because he said Romanik controlled the stations, acting in the capacity as owner of the stations. And, Kern said Romanik did not disclose that to the Commission.

Back in April of 2019 St. Louis state senator Jamilah Nasheed said Romanik uses racist and homophobic comments on the air and she wrote a letter to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai asking that he pull the station’s license and levy a big fine against the station. According to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Nasheed says Romanik violated federal law which forbids obscene, indecent, or profane language on the air.

However, the license renewal rejection had nothing to do with Romanik’s content. The FCC said there was evidence  Romanik “exercises de facto control over the stations,” But Halprin ultimately dismissed the license renewals for all four stations because Entertainment Media Trust’s trustee, Dennis Watkins, didn’t show up for the FCC proceeding on the license renewals and the question about who was controlling the stations. She decided enough taxpayer money had been spent on the matter and rejected the renewal request.

  1. Bob Romanik uses inappropriate language that should have led to the verdict in question. Nevertheless, his method may be gross but it is based on the truth. The radical left has released a “mob from L’ which is causing mayhem all over St. Louis.—- Romanik’s methods were suspect but his Paul Revere impression is greatly appreciated. As if Jamilah Nasheed and her Muslim affiliation doesn’t have a hidden agenda in attacking his right to speak in the public square.
