University of Delaware Athletics’ “Voice of the Blue Hens” Scott Klatzkin has been named the 2019 Delaware Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association. It marks the fourth time he has won the honor, having previously been selected in 2009, 2012, and 2016.

“This is truly a deserving honor for Scott, who is such a valuable asset to not only our program, but the entire athletic department,” Delaware head men’s basketball coach Martin Ingelsby said. “He brings a tremendous amount of passion and hard work to his job and we’re thrilled to have him as part of our Blue Hen family.”

Klatzkin, Delaware ’07, joins UD Athletics and Delaware Sports Hall of Famer Bob Kelley (19x), and Delaware Sports Hall of Famer Bill Pheiffer (5x), as the only radio broadcasters to win the award four or more times since it was first handed out in 1959.

In 2019, Klatzkin completed his eighth season as the play-by-play voice for Delaware Football and began his eighth season in the same role for Delaware Men’s Basketball. The Newark, DE, native also works as host of the Blue Hens football and basketball coach’s shows. During this past football season, Klatzkin celebrated his 300th game as “Voice of the Blue Hens” when UD defeated Penn at Delaware Stadium.
