Alpha Media, Portland’s KUPL (98.7 The Bull) raised $261,098.70 in partnership with their listeners — “Bull Nation” — and advertisers during their radiothon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Dec. 5 and 6. Since 2009, the station has raised more than $1.5 million dollars for the kids at St. Jude.

“98.7 The Bull and Bull Nation again broke fundraising records this year in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Curtis Carroll, Sr. Development Director for St. Jude. “Everyone at the station and their listeners are so dedicated to this mission and have become true champions for the kids here in the Portland area. Every year the team with The Bull does something special with this radiothon.”

Over the two days, the KUPL jocks broadcast live encouraging listeners to call in and become a Partner in Hope during the radiothon.

New for 2020, 98.7 The Bull hosted the St. Jude Jam on Sunday, Dec. 8, featuring Blanco Brown, Ryan Hurd and King Calaway at the Ponderosa Lounge & Grill. All proceeds for ticket sales were donated to St. Jude. Additionally, a Portland/Seattle fundraising challenge occurred between 98.7 The Bull (KUPL) and 98.9 The Bull (KNUC) with Portland winning by a slim margin.
