For 25 years, WAQY/Springfield, MA, morning team Bax & O’Brien have hosted the annual Mayflower Marathon. This year they did it again. The duo broadcast for 52 hours from the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield over the three days leading up to Thanksgiving, while collecting non-perishable food donations for the Open Pantry of Springfield.
The Open Pantry continues to see growing demand for their services, and the need for donations of non-perishable food items is constant. The outpouring of support from local residents and businesses was unprecedented this year and helped to fill more than three 48-foot tractor trailer trucks and raise over $140,000 in food and cash donations.
