We recently reported that WMGK-FM/Philadelphia would be conducting a “Turkey Drop,” which is annually the largest, single-day food gathering event in the City of Philadelphia. Well, the Beasley station just checked in with us and it turns out that the John DeBella Turkey Drop held on Tuesday was a huge success! The station is at 11,266 turkeys and counting. Last year’s total was over 10,000 turkeys.
The turkeys are being collected to feed the working poor in the area through City Team Ministries.
Dave Gibson — co-host and Producer of the station’s John DeBella Show, tells us that, in dollars, the donated turkeys equate to $102,500 in food for the needy.
