Next month, WEKU-FM/102.1, Eastern Kentucky University, will move its Classical Music programing online. The switch is set for December 16, 2019.
In a press release posted on the station website, WEKU Director/GM Mike Savage says the continued broadcast on 102.1 FM was financially unsustainable. “WEKU was leasing the frequency at a significant expense which we could just not maintain.”
Classical music has been carried on the station since July 2011 through an agreement between Eastern Kentucky University and Davenport Broadcasting.
