GEICO Stays Top But Others Make Huge Gains

GEICO was the number one advertiser on radio nationwide again last week, according to the Media Monitors chart. And it got there with a relatively modest 32,868 spots. McDonald’s (24,328) moved up to second from fourth, while Fabreze gained five places to slot into third position with 21,056 ads. Making up the top five were the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, up to fourth from 16th, and Progressive, which made it to fifth from seventh. But in a tightly packed field, the big news was the three companies that came out of “nowhere” to get into the top 10 advertisers: Vicks went 90 places from 96th to sixth; Colgate got to seventh without ranking in the top 100 at all last week; and, Ashley HomeStore went from 54th to ninth.
