Stickles The New Talent On The Vineyard

1

Joseph Stickles joins 88.7FM WMVY/Martha’s Vineyard, MA, in a newly created position, appearing on the station’s airwaves delivering morning newscasts, and working behind the scenes on a host of production, promotion, music, and writing projects. Stickles graduated in Spring 2019 from the University of Connecticut with a double major in Journalism and Communications. He did play-by-play and color commentary work at WHUS.

“This newly created position was designed to pull a few tasks off the ‘to do’ lists of our sometimes overburdened full-time staffers like Amy Vanneman, Laurel Redington, and Bill Narkiewicz,” said PJ Finn, Executive Director at Friends of MVYRADIO. “Joe’s motivation, broad range of talent, and multi-tasking skills impressed us. He was the right fit for this position.”

“Joining MVYRADIO is an amazing opportunity for me, especially right out of college. I’m excited to learn more about the island and work side-by-side with the MVY staff,” said Stickles, adding, “I look forward to bringing my radio experience from Connecticut to serve MVYRADIO listeners.”

  1. Congratulations, Joseph! You’ll be happy to know the Connecticut influence you possess will connect with some on my beloved former home (the Vineyard) because there is an enclave of summer home owners and visitors from places not far from UCONN’s WHUS. My large and loyal former audience in that region were some of the friends made way back in the early 1980s when I was Program Director at WMVY when it was commercial and 92.7 was its dial position. You could not be in a better place to develop your style, talent and uniqueness as the staff there have done, and the Vineyarders (and ‘Americans’ across the Sound) will love it and you as well.
