Q Broadcasting in Florida has launched VIVA FM, a 100% Salsa format for the Orlando market. It will be carried on a simulcast/combo of WONQ 99.5 FM and 1030 AM, with coverage of Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Polk, and parts of Volusia, as well as digital platforms.
COO/VP of Q Broadcasting George Mier says: “This format has been heavily researched and a winner in selected markets over the years. A few stations have dabbled with it, but besides playing some hits, I believe many have not achieved the format’s fullest potential… Salsa has long been a heritage format with a highly emotional connection with listeners from most Latin American countries, due to its standard legacy of hits that has spanned over 50 years. The station will be the only 100% Salsa format in the state of Florida and the continental U.S.”
