Monona, WI, Has Station Of The Year

WVMO-LP, the City of Monona-owned and licensed low-power radio station, was awarded the 2018 Large Market Music Radio Station of the Year by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association at their annual Awards Gala, Saturday, May 4, at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton, WI.

Up against a record number of entries, the station took home 11 awards in total, including four first-place awards, four second-place awards, two third-place awards, and Music Station of the Year. Among the first-place awards, Volunteer Promotions Director, Becca Reynolds accepted the “Best Use of Social Media” award with her Facebook coverage of the 2018 flooding in Monona.

“The WBA Awards highlight the best that Wisconsin’s radio and TV stations have to offer, including their tremendous service to their communities,” said WBA President and CEO Michelle Vetterkind.

WVMO programing and operations are run by Volunteer Music Director Kirk Swenson,
Volunteer Promotions Director Becca Reynolds, and Volunteer Traffic Manager Carol Hornung. The station is a low-power Americana music station provided by the city’s Community Media Department.
