The GAB Radio Talent Institute opens today (Monday, May 13) with Mike McVay followed by Tim Clarke, VP of Audience Content for Cox Media, Atlanta. They will be followed, over the next 10 days, by 40 broadcasters from Cumulus, Cox Media, Beasley Media Group, Entercom, Urban One, iHeart, and others, including Steve Holman of the Atlanta Hawks, in leading sessions.

The Institute will wrap up on May 22 with Erica Farber, President and CEO of RAB, with the closing session, “Now is the Time to Start Thinking Like a Pro.”

Aspiring young broadcasters accepted into this year’s GAB Radio Talent Institute come from a host of Georgia colleges.

Bob Houghton, President of the GAB, stated: “The Georgia Association of Broadcasters is proud of our partnership with the National Radio Talent System. Over the past five years we have graduated over 100 students who are ready to make a contribution to the future of our industry. I appreciate the nearly forty broadcasters each year who give their time and talent to speak in the Institute. Broadcasting, and specifically radio, has a proud past and, with this program, a bright future.”

Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication’s Dean Charles Davis said, “The GAB Radio Talent Institute is a great asset, a great event introducing students to broadcasting careers. It is a wonderful addition to our offerings.”

The GAB Radio Talent Institute is the first of eight Radio Talent Institutes this summer from the National Radio Talent System.
