iHeart West Palm Host Dead After Crash

Sixty-three-year-old Andrew Preston died Wednesday, one day after crashing his SUV. The Palm Beach Post is reporting that Preston was sitting in the vehicle when his partner Amy Woods tried to get in, and Preston accelerated through a parking lot, sideswiping a car and finally hitting a tree. He then opened the door, fell out of the vehicle, and hit his head on the cement. The Post reports that the Sheriff’s office says both Preston and Woods were impaired. Preston was the afternoon host on iHeart’s rock station 98.7 The Gator, which has set up a page to remember the host. He had been at the station since 1991.

Market President Mark McCauley told Radio Ink, “We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Andy Preston, afternoon personality on 98.7 The GATER for nearly three decades. We offer our deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this very difficult time. Andy will be fondly remembered and truly missed by all.”

  1. Nothing about him being escorted out of the building the day before; now the same company sets up a page honoring him? Great talent, great guy
