New College Show Has Academic Slant

It’s a new show with a pretty strange name: The Radio Free Hillsdale Hour. The nationally syndicated program is produced by Hillsdale College (Hillsdale, MI) and currently broadcast to nine stations in three states.

“The ideas and arguments discussed here at Hillsdale College are relevant to all citizens, and this new radio program is one way to share them with people across the country,” said Scot Bertram, GM of WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. “Talk radio listeners already know Hillsdale by reputation. Now they’ll have the opportunity to hear from the school’s faculty, staff, alumni, and others directly.”

The Radio Free Hillsdale Hour is a “talk radio program addressing public affairs and news through the lens of classical liberal arts education” hosted by Bertram and produced with assistance from a Hillsdale student producer. Bertram boasts a long career in radio with experience in a variety of positions, including Chicago’s ESPN 1000 and News Talk station WROK in Rockford, IL.

The show is broadcast in Michigan through Michigan Talk Network as well as Bold Gold Media’s 94.3 The Talker/WTRW in northeastern Pennsylvania and iHeart Media’s KION AM & FM in California’s central coast. The program is also available in podcast form from iTunes, SoundCloud, Google Play, and other podcast distributors.
