AUDIO: Robert Lee Answers His Critics

(By Ed Ryan) Lee’s column about AM being dead woke up quite a few of our readers late last week. Comments flooded our website through the weekend, and, while I did have to delete a few due to vulgarity, most of them made excellent points. I thought it would be a good idea to get Lee on tape to respond to some of them. The interview HERE is about 10 minutes long.

    • YOU MISS THIS POINT BRADC.

This is a place to discuss the huge unlocked potential of AM, and hopefully bringing it back to its former glory. All this doom and gloom nonsense is not productive. Let the millenials have their streamcasts and ipods. Meanwhile, conscientious AM operators will be working hard to provide vibrant local programing long after your precious internet is clogged by pop-ads and pay-for-play music “services”.

Give me a transistor radio, a cold phosphate soda, and I’ll be laughing at all of you.

      • additionally, all this talk of interference on the AM band. Poppycock. Blame the user, not the delivery technology. Simply buy a proper receiver, and spend the time to configure it properly. If you think you can just pop an AM radio out of it’s carton and get full, clear sound… you’re on a marijuana. When set up the right way, AM can sound just as good as any FM bump-bump dancing “music” station.

  1. Hey Ed Ryan–

I’m the kid in the picture with my transistor raadio taken in 1958 that you’ve run 214 times without my permission. I’m all grown up now and a practicing attorney in Cicero Illinois. I’d like $1,000.00 for each unauthorized use of my photo or $214.000.00 total.

Next time use Dick Clark in the photo
