Robbins Back And Better Than Ever

Several years ago, shortly after signing a syndication deal, 59-year old Peoria radio host Scott Robbins had a massive heart attack. He needed 5 bypass surgeries and was stuck in a hospital for 5 months.

The Journal Star does a nice update on Robbins who is back on the air with Jamie Markley at WMBD-AM/FM in Peoria. He also hosts afternoons on a Sports station in the market and does a morning show from his bedroom on a talk station in Bloomington.

Robbins tells the paper he’s very grateful to be where he is today and he tries to share his story with others. “My doctors can’t explain it but I’m pleased and I’m grateful. I drank a lot of beer, I smoked a lot of cigars, I didn’t take very good care of myself. I didn’t go to a doctor for 20 years. I try to reach out to people. Don’t smoke. If you drink, drink in moderation. Try to get enough sleep. Know your (cholesterol) numbers.”
