Still Fighting After All These Years

Irving Azoff’s Global Music Rights and the Radio Music Licensing Committee are still going at it. This week we found out that the RMLC accused GMR of bullying tactics with Entercom in the middle of this particular firestorm.

The fight to get radio to pay more for GMR’s artists is now entering its third year. The RMLC says GMR is using bullying tactics and accuses GMR of antitrust violations. As Digital Music News points out, the latest accusation by the RMLC is witness intimidation, specifically against Entercom. RMLC says it has emails that state GMR executives refused to license Radio.com based on Entercom’s support of the RMLC in this battle.

DMN is also reporting that the RMLC says GMR “dangled a carrot” in front of Entercom. Basically they are alleging that GMR tried to bully Entercom into backing off of support for the RMLC in exchange for licensing.

  1. My experience is that noollow links do have a very important place in the SEO game so getting loads of noollow links via commenting can make a significant difference in ranking especially for new site that has great content. But there is one thing I am not sure of, How much do the comments actually add up to the content of a site ? I mean are the comments included in site content like rest of the article or do the search engines treat it differently and do not include it in the content of the post!

  3. On November 18, 2016, an antitrust lawsuit was filed in a Philadelphia-based federal court by the Radio Music Licensing Committee against the Irving Azoff-led Global Music Rights music licensing organization. The case, assigned to the Hon. C. Darnell Jones II, is now in its third year without resolution and has come with twists and turns — including jurisdictional challenges. On Tuesday, a new development in this battle over radio royalty fees emerged. More at Radio Ink sibling RBR.com
