The station announced that Dave Durian died early Monday. The 72-year-old was at his home in Baltimore and suffered a stroke. He had also been diagnosed with lung cancer. Durian moved to Baltimore in 1982 from KDKA in Pittsburgh and started out on the TV side.

He became a lead anchor at WBAL-TV 11 before leaving the station in 1986 to join Maryland Public Television. In 1987 he started with WBAL Radio as a fill-in talk host and in 1990 he was named host of the morning show. He then spent the next 30 years on the air in Baltimore.

Visitation is set for Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home. A funeral will be held there at 1 p.m. Friday. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Jacksonville Volunteer Company or the WBAL Kids Campaign.
