Pierce was 67 years old and passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 30 in his hometown of Florence, KY. Pierce founded the brokerage firm John Pierce & Company in 1999. Prior to that, he worked a variety of jobs in radio. His first radio job as a teenager was at local Christian station WAKW-FM 93.3 MHz, owned by the Pillar of Fire.

Pierce later founded Paragon Advertising & Communications in 1975, which places religious clients and syndicated programs on radio and television.

In 1984, he founded the first radio station in Boone County, KY: WFKB-AM, which is now owned and operated by Christian Broadcasting System as WCVX-AM, Cincinnati’s Christian Talk radio. During the mid-‘90s, Pierce also operated WCVG-AM, where he changed the format to Black Gospel, which it remains to this day.

John’s wife, Victoria Jane Pierce, and daughters Ashleigh and Sydney Pierce, request memorial contributions be made to the Broadcasters Foundation of America or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
