Huppe Attacks Radio Again

This time in an op-ed piece published in Billboard. SoundExchange CEO Michael Huppe continues his assault on the radio industry with his push to get stations to pay for every song they air.

Huppe is using the 30th anniversary of a letter Frank Sinatra wrote to his fellow artists, calling on them, Huppe says, to push for royalty legislation. This is an issue broadcasters should always stay focused on. It never goes away.

Huppe says the free ride broadcasters have on the backs of artists wasn’t fair in 1988 and it’s even more unfair today as FM radio competes for free with streaming services that rightly pay artists for their work.
