Chaz & AJ, WPLR-99.1 set a new record for their annual toy drive for kids December 7. In four-and-a half hours $192,638.56 in toys and cash was collected for children’s charities.
The show featured musical performances from a variety of national rock acts, local bands and students from an area school of rock music. The event also featured appearances by Connecticut Governor-Elect Ned Lamont and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal.
The station partnered with local sponsors; McDermott Chevrolet and Lexus, Bankwell, The Water Doctor and Jordan’s Furniture. “What an unbelievable morning,” said Eliot Tatelman, President/CEO of Jordan’s Furniture. “We are proud to be part of Chaz and AJ’s Toy Drive again this year, with our friends at 99.1 PLR.”
“The amount of generosity from our listeners today was incredible,” said Chaz. “We are going to make a lot of kids happy this holiday season.”
